Santa Cruz Boardwalk

Summer Roadtrip to Santa Cruz
It's early summer and I thought it would be a good time for the two of us to go out for some fun. Michael had never been to the Boardwalk, so I decided we would go there for a quick day trip to show him some things I did as a kid.

I remember my parents taking us here and my sister Lynette and I having fun riding the rides, walking the boardwalk, playing games and eating all kinds of carnival food.

We loaded into the car and after a 3.5 hour drive, we were in Santa Cruz!

We parked and after a quick hunt for some Pokemon on Pokemon go, it's time to head to the Boardwalk.

I think Michael was surprised there were actually roller coasters here, but he was excited to see the Giant Dipper!

We are here!

Let's walk around and find a roller coaster to ride!

It's a beautiful day and of course the boardwalk is crowded.

And there it is... The Giant Dipper!

He was pretty nervous to ride this ride. It's "old fashioned" so he thinks a couple of things...
1. It won't be safe.
2. It won't be fun.

But he decided to get on and we are about to have a great time!

The proof. The Giant Dipper is still fun after all these years!

Up next, the water ride!

Our chariot awaits.

We may get wet on this one!

Woohoo!! More fun and although we got wet, it was a warm day and we dried out quickly.

Next order of business is to play some carnival games. Let me show you how it's done kiddo.
And yes, I beat him! haha. He had fun and came away with Captain America.

A few more carnival games before we head to the beach.

Go in!!!  He wasn't a winner, but this game was fun.

We are off to the beach to play some Pokemon Go.

Even took a minute to put our toes in the water for a minute.

And yes, plenty of Pokemon to be caught while we were here. We walked up and down the beach and all over the place. I told him he had an hour to go as far as he wanted to catch anything. We went from one end to the other. He was pretty happy with what he caught.

It was suggested to us by Chris to go by and have a Betty Burger while we were here, so of course we couldn't pass that up!

It was a cute place and I love the logo. Bought a couple of pint glasses to take home too.

And the burgers didn't disappoint. Yummy!

On our walk back to the car, we stopped into an open house. Let's see what the real estate goes for around here...
Wow, expensive!! This little place with no lot or garage is over $800,000!

Another tidbit that was on a car in the parking lot. haha

We decided before we head home to take a drive through The Forest of Nisene Marks.

It's a beautiful park. I look forward to coming back to camp and mountain bike through here with Chris.

Lots of trails splitting off from the main road.

What road trip would be complete without taking a walk down a trail. What you can't tell here is that Michael had to pee. Really bad!! So, he's taking a little bathroom break in the woods.
When you gotta go...

We had a great time going to Santa Cruz. I'm glad I got to share this with Michael.
He had a great time.
